The Radiation Imaging & Detector Application Laboratory is dedicated to developing new detector technologies for radiation detection, radionuclide analysis, and high-sensitivity and high-resolution image acquisition systems, and to applying these advances to various medical and industrial fields.
We are conducting research to develop new detector concepts to improve the performance of non-invasive imaging systems, such as gamma cameras, single photon emission computed tomography(SPECT), and positron emission tomography(PET) scanners. We are also developing an integrated imaging system to evaluate and verify patient dose distribution from radiation therapy. Our research also includes development of radiation monitoring systems for the nuclear industry, nuclear terrorism prevention, and environmental radiation monitoring. To achieve these goals, we conduct research on design optimization and Monte Carlo simulation from detector level to the entire system, detector and system implementation, data correction methods, image reconstruction algorithms, data analysis and image processing techniques.
